SL BN 410px 14 10 02Sri Lanka is to battle against Bangladesh today (Oct 02) in the semifinals of the cricket event at Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon, South Korea.

The match is to be held at Yeonhui cricket grounds.

Defending champions Bangladesh will be at full strength, except for their regular captain who skipped the Games due to his wedding. Bangladesh warmed up for their decisive semi-final with a thumping 203-run win over Nepal.

Having smashed South Korea by 117 runs in quarter finals, Sri Lanka team led by Lahiru Thirimanne, is brimming with confidence and the cricket critiques are of the opinion that the match will not be a big challenge to the team which comprises of national Test and ODI players.

However, high expectations on Sri Lankan women's cricket team defeating Bangladesh had to be abandoned as Bangladesh team secured victory over Sri Lanka in semifinals.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka will be battling it out with the current holders of the 17th Asian Games Gold, Japan, in one of the semi-final encounters today at the Namdon Rugby Asiad stadium.

Sri Lanka after being beaten by South Korea (12/21) in their last group encounter went on to beat China (24/19) in the quarterfinal encounter.

If Sri Lanka secures victory in today's match, it will allow the team to win either gold or silver medal and if not the team will compete for the bronze medal against the losers of semifinals.
