The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) has decided to quit the government on 18 November if the President does not make a positive response towards their suggestions, reports say.
The President's birthday and the anniversary of his swearing in ceremony falls on 18 November.
Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror' a party bigwig stated that the final decision of JHU on how to function at a presidential election will be announced within the next five days.
Meanwhile, a crucial meeting is to be held today (Nov 13) between the heads of Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and JHU leaders.
It is said that the JHU will come to a final conclusion, whether to remain in the government or to support the common candidate under certain conditions, based on the results of the discussion.
