The attack follows a small pocket meeting held near Hali Ela Muslim Mosque yesterday, which was organized by Naushad.

"A group travelling in a Defender Jeep and Van arrived at my house today morning at 2.45 am. They turned my three wheeler over and tried to set it on fire. But they failed to do so because neighbours gathered. Seeing the people the group fled," he has told CaFFE.

UNP organizer of Hali Ela, Jayantha kannangara has said that his supporters and offices were attacked four times and that the most violent electorate of Badulla has been Hali Ela.

CaFFE has received 341 complaints. 241 from Moneragala with 59 incidents of violence and 47 from Badulla with 14 complaints of election violence.
