Skyline 410px 14 08 28The Flying Training Academy - Skyline Aviation (Pvt.) Ltd located at No. 104/3, New Airport Road, Ratmalana, is embroiled in a massive tax fraud, reports say.

The fraud has been taking place for several years, reports add.

The company has been initiated in 2006 under the 300 Enterprises Programme of the Board Of Investment (BOI).

However, details have now emerged that the company has being enjoying tax incentives granted by the BOI while violating the relevant regulations.

Despite the company application tabled before the BOI stating the proposed location for the venture as Weerawila, it has functioned from Rathmalana since obtaining the permit. (Article 2.2 of the proposal shown below)

Using the BOI permit, Skyline Aviation has imported a 03 Single Engine Aircraft, one Twin Engine Aircraft and a Twin Engine Rotorcraft in 2006 on a duty free basis.

Though the BOI has permitted them to bring in these aircraft to Weerawila, they are currently in Katukurunda, reports say.

Skyline is owned by a one Kurukulasooriya Anthony Romesh Fernando, whose main stream of business ventures is said to be in the apparel industry.

In order to qualify as a commercial pilot from this academy, the relevant courses costs around Rs. 5.5 million, which can be paid in several installments.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror' a company spokesperson said that around 250 persons have passed out as qualified commercial pilots from the academy.
